GARCIA RULED OUT

The manager of Roma, Rudi Garcia, has made it clear that he is not in line to replace Didier Deschamps as the manager of the French national football team.

The French team has recently suffered a huge setback as they were defeated by a relatively weaker Ukrainian team by 2-0 in a World Cup qualifying playoff match. Very few people would have expected such an outcome of that game. The general thinking was that France would win easily, but, that wasn’t the case to be.

Didier Deschamps, the current France boss, is facing a lot of criticism because of that defeat and many people want him to be replaced immediately. There were rumours that Garcia is one of the candidates who might take over from Deschamps, but, the Roma manager has completely denied that.
Talking to the reporters ahead of Roma’s match against Cagliari yesterday, Garcia said, “I don’t have any reason to leave Roma at this point of time. I love the club and I want to stay here for a long time.”

“Being a Frenchman, I am disappointed with the end result of that game against Ukraine. The fans are completely depressed and that’s understandable. But, I strongly believe that the French team has the capability to recover from this setback. We can still make our way to the finals.”

“The players will have to realize that they are carrying the hopes of the whole country. People also need to have their faith in the team. The support is very important.”
The advantage for the French team is that they have to play the return leg on their home soil and if they play as well as they are capable to, they can be expected to wipe out that 2-goal deficit.
