Rudi Garcia’s position at Roma was under major speculation

A few months ago, Rudi Garcia’s position at Roma was under major speculation after the team made a poor start to the Italian Serie A.

The team was going through an inconsistent run of form, but it has been overcome in the last couple of matches. Roma made it four wins on the bounce and have moved to the top of the table. It is mightily impressive considering that Roma have been able to achieve this upturn in form without their legend, Francesco Totti. The forward has been nursing a thigh injury that he picked up last month.

However, Roma have been given the huge positive news that the 39-year-old will be back in action much sooner than expected. He has begun his initial rehabilitation processes and Garcia will have another option upfront. Roma are looking to win their first league title since 2001 and this is possibly the best opportunity they have got since the likes of Juventus are nowhere near the top of the table. Inter Milan began the season strongly but they are beginning to fade away. Roma can open a sizeable advantage if they can maintain this form until the winter break. Totti recently reached a landmark by scoring 300 goals for the club.

"Francesco Totti is continuing to make progress as he bids to return to full fitness after sustaining a thigh injury on September 26. Tests carried out on Totti today revealed further improvement in the injured muscle in his right thigh. The Giallorossi No.10, who recently struck his 300th goal for the club, will gradually increase his workload with the club's medical and coaching staff monitoring the situation every day," said a statement on the club’s website. Totti would like to finish his Roma career with a flourish by leading them to a league title.
