SPALLETTI DENIES CONFRONTATION WITH FRANCESCO TOTTI

Head Coach of Italian side, AS Roma, Luciano Spalletti has denied the reported confrontation with Francesco Totti.

He is to meet with the directors of the club to resolve the issue with the Veteran Roma player. Spalletti released a statement where he categorically denied any argument or “physical confrontation” with any of players despite what was widely reported by the media.

After the3-3 draw in the encounter with Atalanta, Spalletti was widely acclaimed to have had arguments with some players, which he has denied.

“What I read has surprised me a great deal, seeing as I was sent off for dissent and therefore did not go into the tunnel with my players.

“I waited for the players in the locker room and obviously had some things to say, seeing as I was not happy with the way the game went.

“I categorically deny there was an argument or even worse a physical confrontation with any of my players. I do not lay my hands on my players,” the statement read.

Lots of Sports media houses, including Gazzetta dello Sport, used Spalletti as headlines where the coach was reported to have begun shouting at his players after the game. Francesco Totti was reported to have had the back of the rest of the players being a legend at the club but his response angered Spalletti the more.

Spalletti was reported to have hit back saying: “You shut up. You’re not the one to talk, when you go around the rooms playing cards until 2am!”

The 39-year old striker, Totti, is spending his 24th season in the Serie A and is reported to be set to leave the team this summer. At the meeting, Coach Spalletti, Sporting Director Walter Sabatini, and General Director Mauro Baldissoni will discuss how much role Totti would play prior to the season end. Totti has had only ten appearances this season with two goals to his name this season.
