Totti Afraid Of Retirement

Roma legend Francesco Totti has claimed that he is extremely terrified at the prospect of retirement, which could occur in the next few years. The 37-year-old has been playing regular football for the past two decades with Roma. He is one of the icons on the club, but his time at the club may soon be coming to an end. This is also true in the case of his career as well. Even though he has been going strong even last year, it’s widely believed that Totti’s legs may not allow him to play top-level football after two years.

He is expected to retire in the next two seasons and the former Italian international has stated that he is already terrified at this prospect. He has been playing with Roma for the last 20 years and he still has two years left on his contract. Players like Ryan Giggs have carried on playing into the 40 year mark. After having recently been left out of the Italian national team, it looks like Totti may retire. He almost helped Roma win the league title last season with an impressive performance throughout the campaign. He will be very much looking forward to the return to Champions League football.

Totti has 235 goals in 561 appearances in the league. "It's going to be terrifying. It will mean the end of a dream that I've been living for 20 years. I daren't even imagine the reaction of the fans. I know that the moment is getting closer. I will be the one who throws in the towel -- I don't want to go onto the field and make a fool of myself. I'm an emotional, passionate person and that's a strength, not a limitation. I play for the love of it, to enjoy myself and because I like it,” said Totti.
