TOTTI STAYS IN ROME

Roma's Francesco Totti has been one of the important players in Italy over the years. He is considered as a legend at Roma after having spent his entire career there. However, age appears to be taking its toll on the striker.

He is coming close to the end of his excellent career, but it seems that he still remains vital to the plans at Roma. After a disappointing last campaign, the club recently appointed Rudi Garcia as the manager. He was asked the a lot of questions about the future of important players like Totti and Daniele De Rossi in his first press conference.

Garcia has said that both players remain integral to his plans in the coming season. He has also stated that getting back into the European qualification places is his major aim for the new season. It was not long ago that Roma were regular contenders in the latter stages of the Champions League. However, there has been in decline at the club due to several factors including the exit of key players.

Garcia has said that the absence of European football in the coming season could be a blessing in disguise because his players will not have to contend with a lot of fixtures over the course of the season.

This would help them do well in the league campaign because they would have a lot of time to concentrate on the league fixtures. Roma missed out on both the Champions League and Europa league last season.

"I'm sorry not to be playing in Europe, but the good thing is that we won't play every three days. We will try to make it back into Europe next season. We need talented players and luckily we have them. Totti and De Rossi are important players who will have a role on and off the pitch," said Garcia.
