Massimo Ferrero Disppointed at Totti sitting in Side Lines
Massimo Ferrero is a little disappointed to see Francesco Totti sit on the side lines for Roma on a regular basis for the last 12 to 18 months.
He reckons that’s undeserving for an individual of that stature.
Ferrero actually heads the rival club Sampdoria and has nothing to do with Roma, but, according to him, his personal relationship with Totti go a long way back and having known him, he can say that he hasn’t met too many guys with a sharper Footballing brain than him.
There’s been a word around that it’s on the directions of the chairman James Pallotta that the Roma management has pushed Totti aside as he clearly conveyed to the management that he wanted a younger player to feature in the midfield.
Aiming a dig at his counterpart, Ferrero says that Pallotta is not the one who has built the fan-base of Roma over the years. Whatever fan-base Roma has had today, Totti is responsible for that.
It’s his game which has drawn people to the stadium season after season. The identity of the club is from him and not Pallotta and that’s why, the club owes more to him than Pallotta.
Ferrero comes from an area which is pretty close to Roma. So, ideally he would like to be heading Roma rather than Sampdoria, that’s what one would assume and Ferrero doesn’t completely deny that.
In his opinion, a person always has a special connection with his birthplace and so has he with Roma and in Football, nothing is ever out of the question. So, he wouldn’t rule anything out, but, for the time being, what’s his aim is to make Sampdoria bigger and better.
Roma and Sampdoria are going to go loggerheads in the Italian top tier this weekend.
