Radja Nainggolan prepared to sign lifetime contract with AS Roma
Belgium international Radja Nainggolan has revealed that he could sign a lifetime contract with AS Roma having snubbed interest from a number of elite clubs across the world. The hard-working midfielder has been the subject of interest from Chelsea, Manchester United, Manchester City as well as from China, but he is prepared to stick with the Giallorossi for the long-term.
Speaking to Sky Sport Italia, the 29-year-old stressed that he has no intention of leaving the Capital outfit despite the vast sums on offer in other parts of the world. The former Cagliari man added that he would be willing to sign a lifetime deal with the Giallorossi, and he may only leave the club, if he is deemed surplus to requirements.
He said: "I am very happy at Roma and see no reason why I should leave. I have everything I need, as in these situations not even a ton of money can change your mind. I could sign a lifetime contract with Roma, as I’ve already said no to many other clubs. Unless, of course, one day they decide to kick me out. Right now I am happy here and the important thing for me is to be happy."
Nainggolan has spent his entire professional career in Italy, and he has admitted that his tough-tackling football has hampered his chances of becoming a regular with the Belgium national side. Nevertheless, the midfielder is expecting to make the cut for the World Cup finals in the summer, where the nation are one of the favourites to at least reach the quarter-final stage.
Nainggolan's club AS Roma began the season in bright fashion as they looked to be among the main challengers to Juventus for the Serie A crown. However, their form has dipped vastly since December, and they are now in a tussle to finish in the top-four to assure themselves of a place in next season's Champions League.
