Southend United Captain Anton Ferdinand Has Been Listed For Transfer

Southend United has listed Captain Anton Ferdinand for transfer and have released four players including Anthony Wordsworth. West Ham center-back Anton Ferdinand is now 33 years old and he has played 35 times in this season. He was under contract at the League One club. The club has now listed the player on the transfer list along with others.

Others who are going to leave the club are midfielders Jermaine McGlashan and Josh Wright along with forward Freddie Ladapo. Ben Coker, the Defender of the team has taken the option to increase the tenure of his deal; on the other hand, Southend is in talks with five more players at the same time. The club is in talk with goalkeeper Mark Oxley, ex-Hull defender Michael Turner, midfielder Michael Timlin and strikers Marc-Antoine Fortune and Simon Cox.

Sharing his thought after the final-day draw with Bristol Rovers, goalkeeper Mark Oxley, who is now 27, said: "I have shared my thoughts with the chairman. I have told him that I am happy to stay. Now, the further decision is all up to him." At the same time, John White, the Shrimpers defender has signed the contract of one-year contract.

White is now 31-year-old and he is in good form, in this season, he has made total 37 appearances. He missed six weeks of this season, because of an ankle injury, which happened during a match. In the February’s win, he was picked up in Peterborough. About his experience with the club, White said, "I thoroughly enjoyed last season. The season was like a new lease of life. I played well and enjoyed my game. Most importantly, even other enjoyed my game. I want to carry on this fun in the next season as well."
