Totti Has Not Received the Right Treatment from Roma, Claims Sampdoria President
Sampdoria presidentMassimo Ferrero has claimed that Roma have not treated legend Francesco Totti well in the last few years.
Totti is considered as the face of Roma. After starting his career in 1992, he has gone on to make more than 700 appearances for the club in all competitions. Despite having been regarded as one of the best players in the world, he stated true and loyal to the club even when there were offers from bigger clubs with more money on the table. The incredible affection shown to the club by Totti has not been returned to him by the club’s management, according to Ferrero.
Totti has been marginalised in recent seasons according to the Sampdoria president. Fans will no longer get to see the incredibleTotti, who will end his playing career at the end of the season. Not many players continue to keep on playing at 40 years of age and at the top of the game. Yet, the fact that Roma have not yet completely replacedTotti shows the level of quality with the player.
Struggling Sampdoria will be coming up against Roma this weekend.Ferrero says that he will shower Totti with a lot of affection before and after the game. Meanwhile, Sampdoria released legend Antonio Cassano bringing his third spell to an end.
"I have the fortune of knowing Totti. He is one of the smartest guys in Italian football. I do not think he has been treated well, but it is not my business. Francesco is Roma. Roma is not [president James] Pallotta, Roma is Totti and when I see him I kiss him all over,” said Ferrero. "I'm happy for him [Cassano], we fulfilled his wishes. He's a great champion and he can still be a useful player somewhere, but he can't be part of our project," continued the Sampdoria president about Cassano.
