JUNOR MAVS BEATEN :(

After a stinging 6-1 loss against Shorecrest, the Mavericks boys soccer team looked to rebound Tuesday against another incredibly tough team, the Shorewood Thunderbirds. Sadly, the T-Birds controlled the game the whole way and came away with a 3-0 win.

Despite being snakebitten in the first half, Shorewood was finally able to break the stalemate in the second half thanks to goals by Hayk Avanesayan, Eugene Holley and Daniel Yun. Sahil Khan also was a constant threat; though he didn’t score, he was a great set-up man.

JUNIOR MAVERICKS FACE TOUGH TASK

The Mavericks have probably one of the hardest schedules in the Wesco 3A league, having to play Shorecrest, Shorewood and Glacier Peak all in a row — all in the second half of the season.

MAVERICKS ON TOUR

In October 2007, the Mavericks travelled to Sri Lanka for a 10-day tour. Former player and founding member of the Mavericks, Andrew Mollitt, now works as a teacher in the capital city, Colombo, and plays for the local premier league side, Saunders SC.

The trip helped to improve the standard of playing equipment for Saunders SC youth team players through the generous donations of soccer playing equipment, such as portable goals, footwear, and jerseys.

A NEW LADY MAVERICK

Women's soccer coach Peter McGahey has announced that an additional student-athlete has signed a NCAA Letter of Intent to attend Minnesota State University.

Committing to MSU is forward/defender Jessica Bowe (Anoka, Minn.).

MAVERICK BOYS PROGRESS

For the first time in over five years The Mavericks advance to game two in the district finals.

Jimmy Thomas scored the winning goal in the first few minutes of play. Mav defense held Holly at bay and the final score was 1 - 0.

A great effort guys. Thank you Coach Gilmour for a remarkable season.

Great game guys. Super Job Jimmy!!

MAVERICKS WALK FOR CHARITY

At the Plantation Sarcoma 5KWalk/Run in October the Archbishop McCarthy Lady Maverick Soccer Team earned the distinction of having recruited the greatest number of members, over the sixty walkers signed up with the Lady Mavericks Soccer team. “It was a beautiful site and you certainly could see us coming in a sea of Pink…!” laughed Lady Maverick Coach Mike Sica.
